Hornblende

Dark colored, usually black or greenish-black. anhydrous, magnesium, iron, and aluminium metasilicate, cla ed as a variety of amphibole. It is common as a rock constituent, sometimes forming the principal ma of a rock, as in hornblende-schist. and also frequently a ociated with quartz and feldspar in crystalline eruptive and metamorphic rocks.
