In the United States navy, a petty officer whose duty it is, under the direction of the gunner, to care for the guns, gun-gear, small-arms, and ammunition. quarter-hollow (kwâr'tér-hol"ō), n. and a. I. n. In arch., etc., a concave molding the are of which is, or approaches, 90°, or a quadrant: the converse of a quarter -round. II. a . Having the form of a quarter-hollow. - Quarter-hollow tool, a chisel or gouge used in wood. working to make convex or concave moldings.
