(er-ith-roks’il-on) (Gr. ἐριθρός red + ξύλον wood]. <A genus of South American shrubs and trees. Ε. coca furnishes coca-leaves, which contain the alkaloids cocain and hygrin: the leaves are tonic and cerebral stimulants, and are said to make the user withstand fatigue and hunger. Dose of fluidextract, 1-2 dr. (4-8 c.c.). See coca.
