Species of Gra es ceum ); b , German Millet ( Setaria germanic a ). also bears the name. Panicum german i cum is a forage plant requiring a warm temperature and a rich, well-prepared soil for its best development. It is an annual, and, when conditions are favorable, of very quick growth. It produces a forage about equal in character to timothy hay, but must be cut before the seeds have matured, as they have an injurious effect upon some animals, especially horses.
