myrmica

[Gr. myrmēx =an ant.] Entom.: The typical genus of the sub-family Myrmicine (q.v.). Under the designation Red-ant, Myrmica rubra , it is now known that three species have been confounded. viz.: M. ruginodis , M. sca brinodis , and M. lævinodis .
