pl. A dismi al. [Colloq.] walking-staff (wa king-staf), n. A staff used for a istance in walking, especially such a staff longer than the ordinary walking-stick or-cane. walking-stick (wâa'king-stik), n. 1. A stick prepared for use as an a istance in walking, differing from the staff (compare pilgrim's staff, under pilgrim, and bourdon1 ) in being generally shorter and lighter. Walking-sticks were especially in fashion as part of the costume of a man of elegance toward the close of the seventeenth and in the eighteenth century.
