(lion., Gie en, 1882), Luther an; b. at Rochau, Pru ia, Nov. 23, 1847; studied theology at Erlangen and Halle, 1865-68; became teacher in Halle gymnasium, 1871; at Wernigerode, 1873; con rector at Torgau, 1876; religious inspector of the Pddagogium at Magdeburg, and vorsleher of the theological seminary, with title of profe or, 1878; profe or of practical theology at Gie en, 1882. He is in substantial agreement with the school of Ritschl of Gbttingen.
