(c. 1469-1535), Eng, Churchman; bp. of Rochester; advocated reasonable reform in Eng. Church, but opposed Luther an ism; opposed Henry IlI.’s divorce, and was executed for his denial of king’s ecclesiastical supremacy; canonized in 1886.
