Kashmir

British Indian State between 32° 30′ and 36° N. lat., and 73° 30′ and 76° E. long. It consists of beautiful elevated valleys and certain of the Himalaya Mountains, upon whose slopes wander the famous Kashmir goats. The Sikhs took po e ion 1819, and have nominally held it ever since, although Ghulab Singh in 1846 recognized England's supremacy only to be confirmed in power as feudatory ruler. Kaskaskia.
