lād, adj. put down, prostrate: pre ed down.— Laid paper , such as shows in its fabric the marks of the close parallel wires on which the paper-pulp was laid in the proce of its manufacture:—opp. to Wove-paper , that laid on woven flannels or on felts. [Pa.t. and pa.p. of Lay .]
