Ottoman

(ol'to-man.) [From Othman, q. v.] Belonging or having reference to the Turks or their empire; as, the Ottoman Porte, i. e., the Turkish seat of government; hence, substantively, a name sometimes applied to a Turkish subject of the Sultan. [s. 672]
