Glanders

Contagious and always fatal disease of the horse, mule, and a , communicable to man and due to a specific micro-organism ( Ba Glands. cill us mallei ). Is characterized by fever, discharge from the nose, ulcerations within it, and enlargement of the glands which suppurate and discharge pus. Death usually results from involvement of the lungs. In chronic variety, symptoms are le violent and disease may last for months. All affected animals should be destroyed as soon as condition is recognized.
