pl. [Mod. Lat. rupicol ( a ); Lat. fem. pl. adj. suff. -inæ.] Ornith. A sub-family of Coting ide, formerly a sub-family of Pipride. It now contains two genera: Rupicola and Phoenicocercus. Flowers perfect, generally two in a peduncle arising from spathaceous leaf sheaths. Perianth none, stamens four, anthers one-celled. Achenes or drupes four, on long stalks, each one-seeded.
