Marrubium

Horehound. The leaves and tops of M. vulgare. They contain a bitter principle and a volatile oil. In small doses horehound is a mild stomachic tonic; in larger doses a laxative. It exerts a soothing effect in catarrh of the nasal pa ages, and is therefore an ingredient of various cough mixtures. Dose Unof.
