Imperforation, either congenital or acquired, of a normal opening or canal, as of the anus, vagina, meatus auditor i us, pupil, etc. The word is often compounded with the name of the organ affected; e.g., at res to cyst i a, a tret enter i a, etc., denoting, respectively, imperforation of the bladder, intestine, etc. Atresic (ah-tre' -zik). Marked by atresia or imperforation. See Teratism.
