Dipping

—1. In electro-metallurgy, a method of applying a thin coating of metal to an article by dipping it into the proper solution. 2. A method of cleaning articles for electroplating by dipping them into cleansing acids. A bath in which rough articles are steeped for a considerable time is known as a “pickle”, while a dip acts on smooth surfaces.
