[F. phalanger, langer is Trichosurus vulpinus, having the tail almost entirely hairy, and combining to some extent the aspects of a squirrel and a fox. Cook's phalanger and some related forms belong to the genus Pseudo chirus. Some very small ones, resembling dormice, constitute the genus Dromic i a. The name is prior in date to Phalangist a, but until lately has been le used. Phalange ridæ (fal-an-jer'i-dē), n. pl. [NL.,
