n. See BEZOAR. BEA (Lat.),n.f. Be’(ba3’e?)-a3, Named in honor of Beau. A genus of cyrtandraceous plants of the tribe Eudidymocarpeæ, established by Commers on. [B, 121.] BAÆCKEA (Lat.), n. f. Bak'e?-as, physician to the Swedish king. A genus of myrtaceous plants established by Linnæus. According to Bentham and Hooker, it includes the sections Babingtonia, Oxy myrrhine, Harmogia, Schidiomyrtus, Euryomyrtus, and Rinzia, which have been regarded as distinet genera. [B, 42, 219.|—B. camphorosmæ [Endlicher]. Syn.: Babingtonia camphorosmæ {Lindley An Australian species belonging to the section Babingtonia. (B, 219.)|—B. chinensis [Giirtner], B. frutescens [Linnæus]. An aromatic Asiatic species. used as an abortifacient and diuretic. Syn.: Bæckeeæ, Bäkeeæ (Reichenbach]. 1. Of Schauer, a tribe or subtribe of myrtaceous plants (Leptospermeæ) including Bæckea and five or six other genera. 2. Of Reichenbach, a subdivision of the Myrteæ. 3, Of Bentham and Hooker, a group of myrtaceous plants including Bæckea, Balanstium, and another genus.
