Theodectes

, a Greek orator and poet of Phaselis in Pamphylia, son of Aristander, and disciple of I so crates. He wrote 50 tragedies, besides other works now lost. He had such a happy memory that he could repeat with ease whatever verses were spoken in his presence. When Alexander pa ed through Phaselis, he crowned with garlands the statue which had been erected to the memory of the deceased poet.
