Near this place, in 1632, the Swedish army under Gustavus Adolphus (who fell on the field) gained a great victory over the Imperialists commanded by Wal lens tein. Near it, too, in 1813, Napoleon I. defeated the allied Ru o-Pru ian army. Pop. 3,000. [s. 561]
