Myogale (miogale)

[NL., cane, the family gain, contuli ing the aquatic desmans, musk-moles, musk shrews, or muskrats of the Old World, M. mos chat a of Ru ia and M. pyrenaica of the Pyrenees. The former is the giant of the Talpidæ, some 16 inches long, with a proboscis, webbed feet, and a long scaly tail vertically flat, like that of a muskrat, and used similarly in swimming. In the smaller species the tail is round, and the proboscis still longer.
