BORAX

is chiefly used as a mild antiseptic. The preparation known as honey of borax is a useful application to the mouth and gums in thrush and allied conditions. Glycerine of borax also makes a good mouth wash, if it be diluted with water seven timcs and ten drops of tincture of myrrh are added to each ounco of the mixture. An ounce of borax di olved in half a pint of water makes & lotion that often relioves itching of the skin. [s. 338]
