over the mountainous western edge of Great Britain varies from about 80 to 120 inches a year, and over the low eastern plains from 25 to 20. At Cherrapungi it has been as much as ‘22 yards.’ The amount varies with the height, the heat, the winds, and the distance from the ocean.
