(ap-en-dis-i’ -tis) [appendix; trig, inflammation]. Inflammation of the appendix vermiform is. A. obliterans, an inflammation characterized by the progres obliteration of the lumen of the appendix, by the disappearance of the epithelial lining and glandular structure. The symptoms are acute attacks of brief duration, moderate swelling at the seat of disease, and persistence of tenderne in the region of the appendix during the intermi ions. 74
