Ancus-Martius

(an'kus mar's hus,) the 4th king of Rome, a grandson of Numa Pompilius, s. Tullus Hostilius about 638 B. c. He is considered the lawgiver or founder of the plebeian order, which seems to have received inhis reign a distinct political existence. D. abt. 614 B. c. [s. 30]
