POTCHEFSTROOM A town in the Transvaal,: South Africa, 90 miles southwest of Pretor i a. Population, 2,000. Station of the SPG (1864), with (1903) 1 mi ionary. Station also of the Berlin Mi ionary Society (1872), with (1903) 1 mi ionary, 13 native workers, 4 outstations, and 1,298 profe ed Christians, of whom 343 are communicants. Station also of the WMS, with 1 mi ionary, 81 native workers, 38 outstations, 22 places of worship, 22 Sunday schools, 8 day schools, and 1,582 profe ed Christians, of whom 380 are communicants. 610
