Named from the cluster of berries.] Bot.: St. Peter's wort, a genus of Lonicerese, with a four-celled ovary, having two cells abortive, and the other two each with one hard seed. North American shrubs: Symphoricarpus racemosus is the Snow-berry (q. v.); S. vulgar is the common St. Peter's wort, a native of the United States, which has red cup-shaped berries.
