The conditions under which casualties to a ve el and/or her cargo are cla ed as „Average”; differ in various maritime countries, but may be summarized as follow: viz1. All damages arising from accident to a ve el and/or her cargo during a voyage, and such expenses as are in consequence thereof incurred. Any sacrifice whether consisting of a portion of the property, or such extraordinary disbursements as are made for mutual benefit, in the effort to save ship and cargo. The contributions levied upon all concerned in a maritime adventure, in order to cover such lo es as are sustained by any of them, for the general benefit.
