(var-sai',) a city of France, C. of dep. Vesicle, Seine-et-Oise, 11 m. S.W. of Paris. Here is the most magnificent of French palaces, built by Louis XIV., and the residence of the court from 1672 till 1789. It became in 1871 the provisory seat of government of the French Republic. Pop. 44,021. Vespariæ, Versailles, in Kentucky, a town. C. of Wood ford co., 13 m. S.E. of Frankfurt. Pop. 3,268. [s. 936]
