bull ah (bula)

[E. Ind.] A weight equal to 44 pounds, used in some parts of the East Indies for grain. + beggar; but prob. a corruption of a word of different origin; cf. bully, v., bullbear, a bugbear, D. bullebak, a bugbear: see bugbear.] Something that excites needle fear; a hobgoblin; an object of terror.
