(mor'-fo-lin), CJ A compound formed by heating dioxyethyl-' amin to 1600 C. with Morphin a, Morphin (mor-fi' '-nah, mor' -fin), The name principal alkaloid of opium, to Morphologic, form; science. Pertaining to the form of organisms which the properties of that drug are chiefly due. It is an anodyne, hypnotic, and narcotic. gr. corresponds in activity with one grain of opium of average strength. M. acetas, soluble in water. Dose gr. JUj, M. acetat., Liq. (B. P.) Dose M. hydrochloras, occurs in silky crystals, soluble in water. Dose gr. M. hydrochlorat., Liq. (B. P.) Dose Injectio morphinae hypodermic a (B. P.), contains one grain of the acetate of morphin in each ten minims of water. M. et ipecacuanha?, Troch., each contains gr. of morphin. M.
