Hall, CHARLES

FRANCIS, 1821-1871. American explorer, in the polar regions 1860-62 and 1865-69. Arctic Researches, 1864. His papers afforded a Narrative, 1879, of his second expedition. He died in Green land on a third voyage with the U.S.S. Polar is, which was abandoned 1872, the crew escaping after great hardships.
