(St.), (jood,) or JUDAS. (Script.) One of the apostles, brother of St. James the Le , and supposed to have been martyred at Berytus abt. the year 80. The Epistle which bears his name is one of the smallest and least important books in the canon of the New Testament, and one whose canonical authority has been much disputed both in ancient and quite modern times.
