The English were defeated; the Duke of Clarence was slain by Sir Allan Swinton, a Scotch knight, and 1500 men perished on the field; the Earls of Somerset, Dorset, and Hunting don were taken prisoners. Beauge was the first battle that turned the tide of succe against the English.
