ANSPACH

or ANSBACH, a town of Bavaria, Germany, 24 miles southwest of Neurnburg, at the junction of the Holtzbach and Lower Rezat rivers. The town gives its name to an ancient principality or margravate, which was ruled by members of the House of Hohenzollern. The town pa ed through various hands and in turn belonged to Pru ia and France. In 1810 it was finally ceded to Bavaria. It has important industries. After his graduation from the College of the City of New York, in 1897, he became secular lecturer for the Temple Emanuel, in New York City, later joining the lecture staff of the League for Political Education, also lecturing at the Brooklyn Institute of Arts and Sciences. His most popular play is The Unchastened Woman, which was produced in New York in 1915. Among his other well known productions are Anne and the Arch Duke John, The New House, 1921, and Dagmar (leading part played by Nazimova, adapted from the Hungarian, of Herzog, 1923.)
