[s. 158] : Station of the German Evangelical (Synod) Mi ionary Society (U. S.) in the Central Provinces, India, 25 miles S. W. of Bilaspur. The station has a force of 2 mi ionaries and their wives, with 24 native workers, men and women. There are 7 elementary schools, an orphanage, a dispensary, a book depot, 8 places of worship in the town and its vicintiy, and the number of baptized Christians is 520. The Mi ion to Lepers in India and the East also has a station here, opened in 1896, and maintains a chapel, leper asylum and a home for the untainted childern of lepers. A CHANDPUR: town in the United Provinces, India, 37 miles east of Meerut. Population, 12,300, sixty per cent, being Mohammedans. Station of the New Zealand Baptist Mi ionary Society (1898), with 1 mi ionary physician and his wife, a mi ionary woman, 4 native workers, men and women, 1 elementary school and a hospital. 158
