Athermancy

[From Gr. a, priv., and therme, heat.] (Phys.) A term introduced by Melloni to designate the property of stopping the pa age of radiant heat. It is thus the opposite of diathermancy, and corresponds to opacity in the case of light; in fact, an athermanous substance is sometimes spoken of as being opaque to heat.
