Gr. pleuron =a rib.] [Pref. phanero- , and Palæont.: The typical genus of the family Phaneropleuride (q. v.). It is of Devonian age. The Car boniferous genus Uronemus is probably generically identical with Phaneropleuron. ( Günther .) phăn-si-gar, subst. [Hind. a strangler.] An hereditary strangler; a Thug (q. v.).
