Chiron

(ki'rõn.) (Myt.) A centaur famous for his knowledge of the art of healing. He was the son of Philyra and Saturn, taught Æsculapius, Hercules, and others, the use of plants, and having received from Hercules a mortal wound, he besought the gods to place him among the constellations, where he figures as Sag it tar i us.
