Scolopacida, which frequents many of our shores, and is a pretty Fig. 576.- SANDERLING, (male and female.) general inhabitant of the globe. It is abt. 8 inches in length; feeds on small marine insects; breeds in the North; and is sometimes called the Ox-bird. [s. 794]
