[NL., States, and two others, tropical American species, are also found in Florida. Several are cultivated in greenhouses for the beauty of their flowers. E. Indica is often men tioned by Indian poets, and is fabled to have been stolen a spiny species, and is planted for hedges. E. Caffra, the kafir boom of South Africa, furnishes, like the last mentioned, a very soft and light wood, which has industrial value.
