( Larou e.)] Zool.: Vesperugo noctula, described by Gilbert White as V.altivolans , "from its manner of feeding high in the air" ( Selborne , lett. xxxvi), sometimes called the Great Bat, is common in all parts of the Eastern hemisphere, inhabiting high ground in tropical regions.
