opisthognathous (opisthognathus)

NL. opisthognathus, or teeth: the opposite of prognathous. opisthograph (ō-pis'thō-graf), n. [ Not a few of the slabs, it is discovered, have done double duty, bearing a pagan inscription on one side, and a Christian one on the other. These are known as opisthographs . Encyc. [ ὁπισθογραφία , ὀπισθόγραφος , written on the back: see opisthograph . ] The practice of writing upon the back of anything; especially, writing on the back as well as the front of a roll of papyrus or parchment.
