Animus

The animating thought or purpose; spirit; intention; hostile feeling or intent; as, "the animus of the speech was partisan." Ankyloglo ia, (ang- kil -o-glos's hah,) n. [From Gr. ankyle, a curve, and glo a, the tongue.] ( Surg.) Impeded motion of the tongue in consequence of adhesion between its margins and the gums, or in consequence of the shortne of the frænum; the latter affection constituting Tongue -tie. It merely requires the frænum to be divided with a pair of sci ors. An'naly, in California , a township of Sonoma co. An'niston, in Alabama , a city of Calhoun co., which, from its manufacturing activities, has grown with great rapidity. Its population in 1880 was 942; in 1890, 9,998; and is now considerably increased. It is the industrial and commercial centre of one of the richest iron districts in the world, is surrounded by a fertile agricultural country, and is among the most progre ive manufacturing communities in the South.
