The state of being dogmatic or a dogmatist i. e., of insisting on certain doctrines and acting according to them, to the disregard of experimental knowledge; the opposite of empiricism. The ancient dogmatics (Gr., Soytta.Ti.Koi) looked upon the whole science of medicine as resting on certain hypotheses relative to the constitution and movements of the humors.
