SIR Richard, was born in 1804, and became Profe or of Comparative Anatomy at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital, London, in 1834. He was said to be the greatest palaeontologist since Cuvier, and to have rivalled Hunter as a comparative anatomist. He was a voluminous writer, and a member of nearly all the learned societies of Europe and North America.
