(bel'lah-trix.) (Astron.) A star of the 2d magnitude in the cons tel. Orion. [s. 86] Bell - bird. (Zool.) The Arapunga alba Bell - bird. (Zool.) The Arapunga alba, a white bird, about one foot in length, native of Guiana, nearly allied to the gen. Ampelis, but distinguished by a long soft carnucle at the base of its beak (Fig. 76). Its loud, sonorous voice, heard from time to time in the depths of the forest, exactly resembles the tolling of a bell. [s. 86]
