VELLUM

(Lat. velamen, or vitulinum.) A fine kind of parchment made of calfskin. The skins are limed, shaved, washed, and stretched in proper I'rames, where they are scraped with the currier's fleshing tool, and ultimately rubbed down to a proper thickne with pumice-stone. [s. 1300]
