PORT MORESBY

[s. 608] : A station on the southern coast of New Guinea, under English authority. It was founded in 1873 by the LMS and has a college in which natives from Tahiti, Rarotonga, Samoa, etc., are educated, and from which 17 stations are provided with teachers. There are (1903) 1 mi ionary and his wife and 14 native workers.: PORTO ALEGRE: A town and seaport in South America, situated in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, of which it is the capital. It is the chief commercial port in S. Brazil. Population, 52,421.
