Pliny

(Hist. Nat., iv, 31), says that tribes of Britanni were to be found not only in Britain and Gaul, but on the Rhine, and on the shores of the North Sea: but that the mercenary Bruttii, or Britones, in Roman legions were mostly from Gaul, not from Britain nor from Bruttium.
